Travel Program

Where did the curious gaze of a child and young Leonardo rested? What views did he observe? The lands of Vinci tells us about it, in the museums dedicated to him. And sailing in historic small boats in the Fucecchio Marshes with expert "boatmen", our 5 senses will all be activated, in a return to origins.

How the tour is structured...

1st day
Individual arrival in Vinci in the morning. Surrounded by a green countryside, in lands that offer excellent wine and fine oil, Vinci is located on the slopes of Montalbano, an enchanting hill between Florence and Pistoia, in the heart of Tuscany. Here, in the small village called Anchiano, Leonardo was born on April 15th, 1452 and the most evocative places in the city are linked to his universally recognized genius. In the birthplace of Anchiano, the three-dimensional audio-visual narration brings to life Leonardo and his most intimate and personal universe, the relationship with the territory of Vinci and Montalbano. The house can also be reached walking from the village by the path called "Green road" of about 3 km; along the way you pass next to the Doccia Mill mentioned by Leonardo in the Codex Atlanticus, surrounded by vineyards and beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. Transfer and accommodation in a farmhouse near Vinci. During dinner, prepared with typical local products, it will be possible to steal tips and secrets to prepare the famous and delicious "Tuscan grill". Dinner and overnight.
2nd day
Breakfast at the farmhouse. In the early morning, transfer by own means to the Padule di Fucecchio, the largest inland Italian swamp. Over the centuries, the marsh has been of considerable importance and even Leonardo da Vinci depicts it and mentions it several times both in the famous drawing dated 5th August 1473 found in the Uffizi and in various codes concerning hydrographic studies. For the Genius, the marsh was the destination of the great project for the diversion of the Arno waters from Florence through the surrounding valley. It is thanks to the enlightened work of Grand Duke Leopoldo that the marsh is navigable. The experience in the Marshes begins with a brief historical explanation and then continues with a navigation lasting about two hours with the historic small boats through which you are completely immersed in the sounds and noises of nature. At the end of navigation, the rest of the day is free. End of services.
