An holiday in the enchanting lands of Piero della Francesca: across the Tiber Valley

Upper Tiber Valley has got a formidable historical interest. The ingenuity and industriousness of the population have enriched its culture and traditions. Painter Piero della Francesca was born here and left much of his art.

How the journey is structured...

Day 1

Full board. Morning dedicated to the visit of Arezzo, with particular reference to the Church San Francesco, which houses "The legend of the true cross", wonderful frescoes by Piero della Francesca. Lunch in the restaurant under the Vasari Loggias in Piazza Grande, and departure to Valtiberina. Stop in Monterchi where we will visit the small precious museum, uniquely dedicated to the "Madonna del Parto", a fresco by Piero della Francesca. Arrival in Sansepolcro at the end of the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2

Half board. After breakfast entrance to Sansepolcro Civic Museum , to admire the "Resurrection of Christ", a fresco by Piero della Francesca. Walk in the historic center and entrance into the "Aboca Museum" created by this important company, specialized in the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants. Lunch in the restaurant with local products. On the way back to Arezzo we will stop in Anghiari, a town included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, whose battle (Leonardo's wall painting) was supposed to be exibited in Palazzo Vecchio, Sala dei Cinquecento, Florence. We will then descend through the winding Libbia Pass, in the shade of centuries-old woods. Arrival in Arezzo in late afternoon. End of services.
