Volterra, the city of culture – Group Tour

The Etruscan origins of the fortified city Volterra are evident in its medieval walls, built on the Etruscan ones. The alabaster stone processing and the strategic position were the basis of the fortunes of this village.

How the tour is structured...

At 09.00 am meeting with our driver in Piazzale Montelungo. Transfer by minivan/car to Volterra. Arrival and meeting with the guide: the village founded by the Etruscans, Volterra, developped much during theMiddle Ages and the majestic medieval walls are still standing to remember that period to the nowadays visitors. Enjoy the visit to the magnificent Cathedral, inside you can admire works by great artists like Benozzo Gozzoli and Fra Bartolomeo della Porta. Visit to the Baptistery and the Roman Theater and thermal bathes. Free time for a walking tour in the city center. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon visit of an artisan workshop, where an art master will show you the processing technique of this material. At 4:30 pm transfer back to Florence.
